How to apply
1. To begin with, a teacher must create an online profile, this can be done by filling out our online application form complete with a current version of their resume and a photo.

The online profile can only be view by Tiger English staff and schools associated with us.

In relation to the photo, it is common place in Korea to attach the photo when applying for a job.

A medium-large sized photo where the individual is happy and relaxed is preferred, try to avoid the mug-shot type photo.
2. You will then be contacted and informed you that your application has been accepted. Also you will be provided with a list of the documents that will be needed for a successful visa application.

If you wish to go with in a short time-frame – two months or less, we suggest applying for your police check and transcripts straight away.

If you are applying far in advance please be aware that police check are only valid for 6 months after they are issued.
3. We will begin you job search either immediately if you wish to go within two months of applying or else it will begin 2 months prior to you stated departure date.
4. When we have received an offer of employment for you, you will be contacted via SMS and the offer will be sent to your email address.

The offer will detail the particulars of the position, working hours, benefits, salary ect and a proposed interview date and time.
5. If you are happy with the offer and would like to do a telephone interview for the position let us know and we will schedule it for you. Should it not meet your requirements, please also let us know what you would be happy accepting and we will continue your job search.
6. Upon completing an interview and being accepted by the school, Tiger English will be sent an employment contract which will be forward on to you.

Please read the contract and if you have any questions again let us know and we’ll answer them or have your school answer them.

In most cases we can arrange photos of the accommodation and an email address of a teacher currently at the school so you can find out what life is like there first hand.

If you would like photos please ask early as they are not always to easily to hand. Photos ect are provided after the school has sent you the contract.
7. When you are happy with the position, you will be asked to return the signature page of the contract signed and dated, to Tiger English. This will confirm for the school your intent to take the position.

To return, the signed and dated signature page, you must print the page, sign and date it, then scan the page, save it as a jpeg or pdf file and attached it to an email and return it to the member of Tiger English you have been dealing with.
8. At this point you will have accepted your position in Korea and it will be time to send the necessary documents for your application to Korean Immigration for an E-2 visa.

In all it can take a month to 6 weeks for a teacher to arrange all the necessary documents, which is why we advise teacher to apply for these as early as possible.
9. When your documents are ready we will provide you with the address of our office in Korea. You will then send your complete set of visa documents via express courier to our office where they will be passed on to your school and then submitted to their local Immigration Office.

A courier is used because of the time and safety purposes. The service used should guarantee delivery within 5 working days. Common services used are DHL, UPS, Fed-Ex, Parcel Force, Royal Mail – Track and Trace or An Post – Track and Trace.
10. Korean Immigration can take 2-3 weeks to process a teachers application form at which point, we will receive your Visa Issuance Number.
11. You will then mail (registered post) or hand deliver your passport, visa application form (containing visa issuance number, the details of your school and director which Tiger English give you) and one passport photo to your nearest Korean embassy or consulate.

They will then arrange an appointment for you to pick up in person your visa and passport, it usually takes about 3-5 days and costs around US$70, €50, £35 and NZ$100.
12. Once the embassy or consulate confirms the date your E-2 working visa will be released, your flights will then be booked.
