The Recruitment & Visa Process
The process for applying to a school in China is as follows;
- To begin with, a teacher must create an online profile, this can be done by filling out our online application form and attaching a current version of their resume, a recent photo and this downloadable China Application Form. The online profile can only be viewed by Tiger English staff and schools associated with us. In relation to the photo, it is common place in China to attach the photo when applying for a job. A medium-large sized photo where the individual is smiling / happy is preferred; try to avoid the mug-shot type photo.
- You will then be contacted and informed you that your application has been accepted. Also you will be provided with a list of the visa documents that will be needed for a successful visa application.
- When we receive an offer of employment for you, you will be contacted via SMS and the offer will be sent to your email address. The offer will detail the particulars of the position, working hours, benefits, salary etc.
- If you are happy with the offer and would like to accept the position, Tiger English will be sent an employment contract which will also be forward on to you. Please read the contract and if you have any questions again let us know and we’ll answer them or have your school answer them. In most cases we can arrange photos of the accommodation and an email address of a teacher currently at the school so you can find out what life is like there first hand. If you would like photos please ask early as they are not always to easily to hand. Photos etc are provided after the school has sent you the contract.
- When you are happy with the position, you will be asked to return the contract signed and dated on ALL pages, to Tiger English. This will confirm for the school your intent to take the position. To return, the signed and dated signature page, you must print the page, sign and date it, then scan the page, save it as a jpeg or pdf file and attached it to an email and return it to the member of Tiger English you have been dealing with.
- At this point you will have accepted your position in China and it will be time to have your physical examination with your GP. Please send the Physical Examination Record for Foreigners by fax or email to our office along with the others documents required for your application to Chinese Immigration for a Z visa. For more information on the necessary documents please see our Visa Documents section.
- Chinese Immigration can take 3 - 4 weeks to process a teachers application form at which point, we will send you your Letter of Confirmation and Visa Application Form.
- You will then apply for Z-visa at the nearest Chinese Embassy/Consulate/Visa Office in your country with these forms (letter of confirmation and Visa application form). Next you should book your flight and send us the relevant flight plan and times so we may be able to arrange you airport pickup in China.
- Finally the school will apply for the expert certificate and residence permit from the relevant local government authorities soon after your arrival in China.
