Telephone Interview
Once we have received your completed application form, along with your resume, photo and a scanned copy of your degree scroll or a letter of intent to graduate for candidates who have just completed their studies; successful candidates will be contacted by email for telephone interview with our schools in Taiwan.
From receiving your application to undergoing your telephone interview normally takes 1 to 2 weeks.
Interview tips:
- Always try to speak clearly and tone down any strong accents.
- Answer the questions slowly and with confidence. Try to put on a smile (if your smiling it can be channelled through the telephone in your voice).
- Try to do some research about Taiwan.
- Have some questions prepared for the interviewer.
- Teachers often find it difficult to answer questions about teaching experience. This is where you should discuss non-English teaching activities you were involved in that brought you in close working contact with children, teenagers or adults.
- Discuss any voluntary work, childcare, coaching underage teams, after school homework study groups you helped with, grinds you gave to students or any activity or employment you had that would have helped you gain experience in working with your respective age groups.
Questions you may be asked:
- How would you describe your personality?
- Have you worked with children or students before?
- What attributes do you have that will make you a good English teacher?
- Have you completed any TEFL training?
- What do you know about Taiwan and Chinese/Taiwanese culture?
- Why do you want to teach English in Taiwan?
- Do you have any teaching experience?
- What do you think the culture differences are between East and West?
- Have you been to Asia before?
